Petroleum Dealers worried about meeting operational costs ahead of Budget

Petroleum dealers are worried about being able to meet their operational costs, as they continue to call for an increase in their profit margin for fuel sales.

This is the concern of President of the Petro dealers association Robin Narinesingh.

Back in April following the announcement of an increase in fuel prices by Finance Minister Colm Imbert, dealers were concerned with the increase will affect the ability of dealers to purchase fuel for sale.

Narinesingh expressed concern at the time that many would have to approach their banks to get increases in their overdrafts or increase their mortgages.

Today ahead of the Budget presentation he says while there has been a slight increase it is still difficult to manage.

He told the Power Breakfast Show on power 102 Digital this morning that it has not resulted in profits for the dealers.

Asked whether he hoped that it would be addressed in the Budget today he said that he’s not sure it could be.

He said the major issue is that there is no regulator to treat with the issue.
