Petit Valley man charged with murder

ASA ASH, 30, of Simeon Road, Petit Valley, is scheduled to appear virtually at the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, to answer to multiple charges, including murder.
On Wednesday 9th June 2021, advice was received from the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mrs Joan Honore-Paul, to charge ASH with murder, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, and common assault, in connection with the death of 20-year-old, JOSHUA ROBLES.
Around 8:50pm on Saturday 29th May 2021, officers responded to a report of loud explosions at 4th Street, Sparrow Drive, Simeon Road, Petit Valley. Upon arrival, they observed JOSHUA ROBLES lying motionless in the living room area of his apartment.
The District Medical Officer visited the scene, viewed the body, made a pronouncement and ordered its removal for a post mortem at the Forensic Science Centre.
Enquiries revealed, that around 8 pm, ROBLES and a woman were entering their yard, when they were allegedly accosted by an armed assailant. The assailant reportedly pointed the firearm in their direction and fired several shots, hitting ROBLES about his body.
When ROBLES attempted to run away, the assailant allegedly pursued him and fired several more shots at him. ROBLES then ran into his apartment where he collapsed.
Crime scene personnel processed the scene and retrieved 15 nine-millimetre spent shell casings, three rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition, and other items of evidential value.
On Sunday 30th May, 2021, the accused was arrested by officers attached to the Four Roads CID relative to the said enquiries.
