Penal men arrested for gun and ammo

Two men were arrested for possession of Firearm and Ammunition in the South Western Dvision.

On Monday 24th February 2020, around 3:00am Sgt. (Ag.) Narinesingh, Cpl Boodlal, PC Jagessar and a party of officers of the Penal, Criminal Investigations Department, were on roving stop and search exercise in the Penal district when they had cause to stop and search occupants parked in a Ford Focus vehicle in the St Dominic RC Church car park, Oliverie Drive, Lachoos Road, Penal.

Officers observed the two occupants seated in the vehicle, a 53-year-old labourer, of Ramdharry Trace, Clarke Road, Penal, was seated in the left front passenger seat and a 19-years-old labourer of Smart Avenue, Lachoos Road, Penal, seated in the driver’s seat.

The officers searched the vehicle in the presence of the men, and discovered a silver coloured Smith and Wesson revolver containing two rounds of .38 ammunition inside the driver’s door pocket.

Both men were arrested and taken to the Penal Police Station.

Enquiries are continuing.
