A Penal man was arrested and charged with shop breaking and larceny by officers of the Penal Criminal Investigations Department, (CID) yesterday.
On Wednesday 4th November, at 7.30 am, a 62-year-old man of Bunsee Trace, Penal Rock Road, reported to officers, that he secured his shop and retired to bed at 11.30pm on the 3rd November.
When he awoke at 3 am on Wednesday 4th he observed that his shop was open. Upon making checks he discovered that cartons of cigarettes, energy drinks, snacks, alcohol, and cash were missing.
Based on information received, the officers proceeded to Goodman Trace, Penal Rock Road, and found 51-year old SEEBARAN JASSAN aka “Mortel” reported to be in possession of the cigarettes. He was charged for shop breaking and larceny.
He is expected to appear today, virtually before the Siparia Magistrates’ Court.
