Paria’s Piper Justifies Pipeline Decision Before Commission Of Enquiry

Six hours was the time line given by Terminal Operations Manager at Paria, Collin Piper, after lone diving survivor, Christopher Boodram, came out of the pipeline to rescue for the remaining divers.

During testimony today before the Commission of Enquiry into the Paria diving tragedy, Mr Piper was asked why a camera was not placed into the pipeline earlier instead of the delay that occurred.

Cross examined by lead counsel for the Commission, Ramesh Lawrence Maharaj, Mr Piper said before any rescuer could go into the pipeline he had to make sure the conditions were safe.
