Paria Objects To Written Statements From Divers’ Family At Commission Of Enquiry

Gilbert Peterson, the lawyer representing Paria Trading Fuel Company Limited, is objecting to the written statements of family members of the divers who died in the tragic incident on February 25th last year being given as evidence at the Commission of Enquiry all together.

Mr Peterson said he could find no relevance with respect to assisting the commission and what caused the incident.

Mr Peterson made it clear he is not unmindful of what the families may have experienced and he is sure there will be an adequate arena for them to indicate their feelings and the impact of the incident on them.

However, with respect to the terms and reference of the commission he finds it difficult placing that evidence in the scope of the inquiry.

Prakash Ramadhar who represents some of the family of divers claimed the suggestion from Mr Peterson missed the point all together and is surprised by the proposal.

Chairman of the Commission, Jerome Lynch, informed how the objection from Mr Peterson will be handled.
