Paray condemns gov’t for “reckless” withdrawl of US$160.38M from HSF

Mayaro MP, Rushton Paray, has condemend the government’s recent withdrawal of US$160.38 million from the Heritage and Stabilisation Fund (HSF).

He said this should sound alarm bells across our nation.

“This significant depletion of our national savings raises serious concerns about the PNM’s fiscal management and misplaced priorities.”

Paray said speculation suggests this withdrawal may be intended to cover public sector salaries, which starkly highlights a dire cash flow crisis.

He said continuously tapping into the HSF during non-crisis periods is not only unsustainable but also exemplifies the Rowley administration’s gross mismanagement.

Paray added that this reckless approach imperils the long-term stability and economic future of Trinidad and Tobago.

“The PNM government’s lack of strategic planning, visionless leadership, and fiscal irresponsibility are leading to the catastrophic disintegration of our economy.”

“It is imperative that the Government provides full transparency regarding the use of these funds and urgently outlines a robust plan to address the underlying economic issues without further depleting our national reserves.”
