Padarath calls on Gov’t to indicate status on nationwide blackout

Opposition Shadow Minister of Public Utilities, MP Barry Padarath is calling on the government to indicate the status of the report into the nationwide blackout that occurred on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022.
In response to this incident, the Minister of Finance and acting Prime Minister made an official statement on February 18th in the Parliament that an independent expert committee to investigate the cause of, and national response to, the nationwide power outage will be established, in which the committee is expected to report within one month.
The Princes Town MP stated that over seven weeks has elapsed since the committee headed by Professor Sharma was established and the government is yet to advise the public on the status of the report.
The Opposition Shadow Minister for Public Utilities is calling on the government to indicate whether the report was finalized, if the findings were submitted to the government, when will the report be made public and when can the nation expect the report to be laid in the parliament.
