OWTU workers prepare to strike as Gov’t moves to privatise NP gas stations

The Oilfields Workers Trade Union (OWTU) says with the recent decision by the government, in the 2021 National Budget, to sell all NP owned Service Stations, workers of the company are fearful their jobs may be in jeopardy.

It says no notice was given by Government before the announcement in Parliament.

Additionally, the company fears that the sale of this entity is an initial plan to close the company.

As such, workers will be picketing NP’s Sea Lots office today, Friday, during their lunch hour from noon to 1:00 p.m.

The union says the action is aimed at seeking clarification with regards to the selling process and workers’ job security.
