OWTU Claims Any Any Moves To Privatise TATEC Will Be Resisted

The Oilfields Workers Trade Union is claiming any attempts to privatise the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission will be strongly resisted.

OWTU President General, Ancil Roget, says there is need for vacancies at the utility to be filled urgently.

The trade unionist says the vacancies have resulted in workers performing many hours of overtime.

Mr Roget made the comments while speaking with reporters during a demonstration outside the St Clair Offices of the Ministry of Public Utilities on Friday.

Mr Roget said the union is ready to meet with the management of TATEC to discuss issues affecting the Commission and workers at this time.
