Over TT $2 billion collected during tax amnesty

Finance Minister Colm Imbert confirmed that Government collected TT $2.383billion dollars as a result of the 2019 tax amnesty.

He said Government’s projected revenue was only TT $500 million, which means that Government would have collected more money than they expected. He said the figure is evidence that there is a need for a revenue collection authority, and he thanked the Inland Revenue and other tax collections agencies for assisting in this exercise.

He added that the figure represents the largest tax collection ever received in T&T.
