611 vehicles are beyond repair in the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
As a result of their condition the vehicles will be disposed of.
The TTPS has an overall fleet of 2,240 vehicles.
1,369 of the vehicles are working properly.
50 million dollars has been allocated by the government for the maintenance of police vehicles for the next fiscal year.
Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, provided the information while being questioned on the maintenance of TTPS vehicles during the Standing Finance Committee deliberations on the Ministry of National Security on Monday.
Minister Hinds said the parliament was told there are 260 vehicles which are not working properly but can be repaired.
80 million dollars will be used to buy new vehicles for the TTPS..
It was also disclosed over 600 police vehicles are not able to be repaired and will be disposed of.
