Oppostions MP Rodney Charles Puts Forward Crime Reduction “Wish List”

There is a request for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Forensic Science Centre to be fully staff by the end of the year.

It comes from Opposition Member of Parliament for Naparima, Rodney Charles.

On the heels of Tuesday’s news briefing by the National Security Minister, MP Charles appealed for a reduction of the country’s murder rate by ten percent annually.

The normalizing of police response times to less than ten minutes, increasing crime detection rates to 60 percent in six months are also on the list of the Opposition MP.

The Opposition is also calling for the firing of members of Cabinet, who have ethical and moral questions to answer.

Mr Charles claims this is necessary given an all of Government approach to fighting crime.

The Naparia MP will also like to see the immediate conducting performance appraisals using measurable indices to ensure Cabinet Ministers, do not collect what he describes as fat salaries under false pretences.
