Opposition willing to support Anti-Gang Bill…if requisite amendments made

As the Government continues to push the Anti-Gang Bill through the Parliament, comes word that the Opposition may still change their minds on supporting the legislation.

The Bill was passed in the Senate last week with the support of Government and Independent Senators while Opposition Senators all abstained.

The Bill was then laid by the Attorney General in the House of Representatives on Friday.
Opposition Chief Whip, David Lee has suggested to News Power Now that the UNC is willing to consider supporting the Anti-Gang Bill in the House if the requisite amendments are made.

However, Mr Lee was adamant that Opposition support will depend on what the final version of the Bill looks like.

Mr Lee maintained however that the Opposition still remains concerned regarding the constitutional implications of the Bill .
