Opposition UNC Welcomes Establishment Of Commission Of Enquiry Into Divers’ Deaths

The Opposition United National Congress is welcoming the government’s announcement of a Commission of Enquiry to probe the circumstances surroundings the tragic deaths of four divers employed by LMCS Ltd while carrying out work at Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited.

The incident took place on February 25th this year.

Speaking at a UNC public meeting on Thursday, the Member of Parliament for Pointe-a-Pierre, David Lee, renewed his call for senior management personnel at Paria to be immediately suspended until the Commission completes its probe.

MP Lee also reflected on the treatment of the families of the divers by Paria, describing it as callous and insensitive.

MP Lee expressed confidence that the Commission will be able to get the facts surrounding this horrific development.
