The Opposition is saying Prime Minister Dr Rowley is a hypocrite.
Speaking with News Power Now in an interview on Thursday UNC PRO Kirk Meighoo said that the opening was not unique to the PNM.
In fact he said it was a re-opening as the UNC was responsible for the initial opening years earlier.
He said that the uproar over the UNC’s decision not to attend any of the events of the Independence celebrations is unfair.
He said at the ceremony the PNM did not acknowledge the UNC’s involvement in the opening years ago, which he maintained was unacceptable.
He also accused the PNM of attempting to rewrite history.
