Opposition Senator Wade Mark Not Comforted By Assurances Proposed TTRA Will Be Free Of Political Interference.

Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, is not satisfied with assurances by the Minister of Finance the independence of the proposed Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority will be untouched by political interference.

Senator Mark raised the concern during his contribution to the debate on the Trinidad and Tobago Revenue Authority Bill, 2021 in the Senate Tuesday.

Mr Mark claimed the board of the TTRA will be directed and selected by the Minister of Finance.

Mr Mark alleged this development can bring to the forefront issues relating to corruption.

Senator Mark also claimed the bill in its present form can put confidential details of citizens into the domain of politicians.
