Opposition Senator: Difficulties Acquiring Foreign Exchange Hindering Small And Medium Enterprises

There is a concern difficulty experienced by many businesses in acquiring foreign exchange could force them to get it via the black market which is not the authorised way to go.

Opposition Senator, Damien Lyder, highlighted the point while contributing to the Budget Debate in the Senate.

Mr Lyder said several small and medium enterprises were finding it difficult to survive and challenges faced in getting foreign exchange is not helping them during these trying economic times.

Mr Lyder acknowledged the government’s Exim Bank arrangement to provide foreign exchange to local manufacturers but wanted to find out how many small and medium enterprises have benefited from this provision.
