Opposition MP Outraged Over Postponement Of PAAC On Recent Islandwide Blackout.

Opposition Shadow Minister of Public Utilities, Barry Padarath is expressing shock and outrage at a press release put out by the Parliament yesterday evening saying that the Public Administration and Appropriation Committee meeting into the recent mass power outage was postponed.

Mr Padarath said “The role of the Public Administration and Appropriation Committee of the Parliament is to address matters like what occurred at the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission last week Wednesday that left the country in hysteria, uncertainty and fear for over twelve long hours.”

MP Padarath said the Committee was supposed to meet Wednesday, February 23, in a public hearing with officials at T&TEC as well as other stakeholders to obtain answers, reasons and recommendations on the way forward with respect to the blackout.

The Opposition MP questioned who were the members that took the decision to abort the meeting?

Further, the MP asked why there was no fixed date for the next meeting of the PAAC into this matter?
