Opposition Leader Calls On Barbados PM To Probe Brent Thomas Matter

The Opposition Leader has written to the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, asking for a full investigation into the Brent Thomas matter.

Kamla Persad Bissessar claims the abduction of a Trinidad and Tobago national from Barbados by three members of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service represents a serious breach of the rule of law and the constitutional rights of a citizen of this country.

The Member of Parliament for Siparia says despite the court judgement by Justice Devendra Rampersad detailing what he called “a shameful blot on our nation,” no information has been forthcoming from the government or State agencies explaining how such an incredible breach of the law could have happened.

Mrs Persad Bissessar said she has the utmost faith in Prime Minister Mottley to be transparent on this issue, which affects the rule of law and constitutional rights of all citizens, including those in Barbados.
