Opp. Senator Expresses Concern Over Possible Decline In Availability Of Burial Spaces

Concerns are being raised about the availability of burial spaces due to the increasing number of deaths attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The matter was highlighted by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, while speaking in the Senate on Wednesday.

Senator Mark wanted to know what is being done to address this development.

Senator Mark also gave a breakdown of burial plots in the different areas of the country, adding that evidence show the number of burial plots is quickly declining.

Meanwhile, Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Clarence Rambharat, said there are over six thousand plots in the Princes Town area which can be used for burial in the district.

Mr Rambharat said the government is also doing what is required to work on arrangements in the granting of burial spaces in Princes Town and Barrackpore.
