One man dead, 2 others wounded in Santa Cruz gun attack

One man is dead and two others wounded following a gun attack in Santa Cruz on Sunday evening.

Police responded to gunshots near Choonkies Supermarket in Cantaro Village at around 5.35 am and found a black Suzuki Ciaz with several bullet holes and blood on the front passenger and driver’s side seats.

Officers were later told by residents that three men who were in the car were taken to hospital by villagers.

However one of the victims, a man identified as Brian Phillip, died from wounds at around 12.45 am on Monday.

The remaining two victims are in stable condition.

Investigators found a grey Nissan Tiida idling on Santa Lucia Boulevard, Sam Boucaud, which was believed to be used by the gunmen. The car contained two spent 5.56 spent. Crime Scene Investigators visited the scene and found two 5.56 spent shells, a spent 9 mm shell, a live round of 9 mm ammunition.
