Officer shoots bandit during shootout at a gyro stand

A police officer shot a bandit after he was himself shot in California on Monday night.

Around 8:50pm, PC Marcus of the Couva Task Force was at a gyro stall situated in California, when two assailants approached him and fired upon him, hitting him in his leg.

He returned fire and it is believed he shot one of his attackers. A search is now on.

Information received is that these assailants were robbing a grocery opposite the stall following which they turned their attention towards the officer who was semi attired in operational police kit(pants and boots).

The young officer is now said to be resting comfortably at hospital.

The incident occurred at a popular gyro stand . According to eyewitnesses the assailant was about to rob the establishment when the officer responded , drew his service revolver and shot the bandit. The bandit reportedly escaped.
