NWRHA CEO Confirms PAHO Experts To Probe Babies Deaths At POS General Hospital In TT

The investigation team from the Pan America Health Organisation to probe the premature deaths of several babies at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Port of Spain General Hospital is in Trinidad and Tobago.

This is confirmed by Chief Executive Officer of the North West Regional Health Authority, Anthony Blake, on Monday.

Speaking at a news briefing, Blake revealed the PAHO experts are  in the country.

He said they arrived on Sunday night, met with the NWRHA’s management team Monday and reviewed the terms of reference.

Blake said the NWRHA will cooperate with them.

He said the  NWRHA is in receipt of pre-action protocol letters in relation to the passing of eleven babies, seven of which belong to a cluster occurring between the 4th and 9th of April involving a bacterial outbreak.
