Nurses Association Relieved By Government’s Move To Regularise Contracts.

Pleased with Government’s move to address the issue of several nurses in the regional health authorities employed on temporary contracts.

This is the mood being indicated by President of the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association, Idi Stuart.

In Monday’s national budget presentation Minister of Finance, Colm Imbert, said the Chief Personnel Officer has been asked to probe the situation and recommend a solution to ensure nurse’s contracts are regularized.

Minister Imbert said the exercise should be completed by the end of the year.

Mr Stuart also commented on the Finance Minister’s announcement in the House of Representatives that he has instructed the CPO to commence, in 2022, outstanding wage negotiations with the relevant representative trade unions in the public service.

He said while he is thankful for this development as there are some issues with respect to the Nurses Association which he would like to see sorted out.
