NTA Welcomes CXC’s Decision To Reverse Its Proposal To Discontinue Certain Technical Vocational Subjects

The National Transformation Alliance welcomes the Caribbean Examinations Council’s decision to reverse its proposal to discontinue certain technical vocational subjects.

These include Agricultural Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology and Green Engineering.

The initial proposal to discontinue these subjects was based on low enrolment numbers.

However, the widespread feedback from educators, students, and stakeholders highlighted the critical importance of these subjects in equipping students with essential skills for economic growth and sustainable development.

NTS commends CXC for listening to the concerns of the region’s education stakeholders and making a decision that prioritizes the educational needs of students.

It claims retaining these subjects is crucial for fostering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education and other technical areas vital for the region’s advancement.
