Notting Hill Carnival cancelled for yet another year

The Board of the Notting Hill Carnival (NHC) Limited has decided against hosting the festival this year.

This will be the second year running that the renowned UK event will not be held due to the pandemic.

A statement from the NHC said that after lengthy consultations with their strategic partners, the Advisory Council and individual participating bands and sound systems, they have decided that this year’s Carnival will not be on the streets, due to the ongoing uncertainty and risk Covid-19 posed.

They continued by saying that this has been a very difficult decision to make, as everyone involved in the event desperately wants a return to the road where Carnival belongs.

However, the NHC said that as in 2020, they will be working towards alternate events that will allow everyone to safely celebrate everything that Notting Hill stands for.

More details on all of this, as well as special events leading up to the August bank holiday weekend will be announced in due course.
