Not enough services offered to ex-prisoners to re-enter society

President of the Prisons Officers Association Ceron Richards says there are not enough services on offer for persons who have served jail time and are attempting to re-enter society.

He made the disclosure during a meeting of the Joint Select Committee on Social Services and Public Administration. The meeting was in progress up to news time.

The Committee was addressing the issue of the Challenges of prisoner re-entry into society.

Mr Richards said that 90 percent of the persons currently in the prison system will at some time have to re-enter society, adding that re-entry services are minimal.

He added that employability is one of the most notable impediments to ex-prisoners
