Nomination of four PSA candidates being challenged over non-payment of membership fees

The Public Services Association (PSA) internal elections is heating up, as Team Sentinel’s presidential candidate, Nixon Callender, is challenging the nomination of four candidates, who he states have not paid their membership fees, thus making participation in the election void.

Callender said based on information provided to him, candidates of four contesting slates failed to pay their membership fees, a breach of the election rules and procedures governing the elections of the PSA.

Callender said dues were missing for a candidate for the Labour Warriors team, a candidate for the Premium Value team, one for Concerned Public Officers and another from Watson Duke’s Game Changers team.

He pointed out that the candidate on Duke’s team had not paid fees for eight months, which under PSA by-laws disqualifies them as a member.

Callender has written to the association’s elections officer and has asked that a response be given in three days.

The PSA election takes place on November 23.
