No secrecy surrounding US-Pfizer vaccine gift to National Security says Minister Hinds

There is no issue of secrecy as it surrounds the government’s acquisition of a small donation of Pfizer vaccines from the United States.

So said National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds.

Hinds spoke to the Express and said the small vaccine gift of 80 vials of Pfizer, which amounts to about 400 doses of the vaccine, is specifically for the Ministry of National Security. However, he did not detail who specifically in the ministry these vaccines were for.

The arrival of these vaccines on Saturday evening, mere hours of the Prime Minister’s press conference, has raised questions about government trust.

The Pfizer vaccine has the highest efficacy rate against the Covid-19 virus but this is under review.

Hinds said this small delivery has nothing to do with any larger amount that the country might be negotiating otherwise.
