No plans to shut down street vending says Rowley

Despite reports of large crowds gathered to purchase food from street vendors since his latest restrictions came into effect on Friday, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has assured that they will not be shut down.

Although larger restaurants have been told to stop operations until May 23, Rowley told GML that street vendors don’t have to be suspended.

He said that people would continue to operate how they wanted despite the warnings.
“Just blame somebody else and you are good to go,” he said.

Rowley said he was not frustrated about the situation, but being factual.

He said he has been observing this population on this issue and carrying the decision-making responsibility for a year and a half.
“It just happens to be my duty and I would not shirk from it.”
