“No need for gov’t to reopen the bidding process for the Petrotrin refinery” – OWTU

Assistant General Secretary of the Joint Trade Union Movement, Trevor Johnson, is claiming there is no need for government to reopen the bidding process for the Petrotrin refinery.

Speaking at a virtual JTUM news briefing today, Comrade Johnson said the Oilfields Workers Trade Union through Patriotic Energies and Company Limited has shown its seriousness and integrity to acquire the state owned assets.

Meanwhile, President of the All Trinidad General Workers Trade Union, Nirvan Maraj, says the government’s decision to grant Patriotic Energies and Technologies Company a further fifteen days to secure financing for the refinery means the OWTU is a good position and is still in contention for the refinery.
