Police still have no clue as to the identification of a man, who was fatally shot while trying to steal a van in Tableland on Tuesday.
Around 12.30 am the victim and his adult son were at their home in Robert Village, when they heard a noise outside.
They also heard the engine of the family’s Hyundai van idling.
When they peeped out, they saw two strangers wearing hoodies in the garage.
The elderly man, who has a licensed firearm, raised an alarm and one of the men pointed a gun at him.
He fired at the men. One of the men fell to the ground and died while his accomplice ran off.
