“No COVID autopsies” policy has merit says geneticist

Questions have been raised of T&T health officials’ and their policy not to perform autopsies on COVID positive patients to determine an accurate cause of death.

But their decision may have some merit as according to Geneticist and Bio Technology Professor Dr Nicole Ramlachan, while the virus will die without a host, it can stay in the body of someone recently deceased for a few days.

She explained that this is why it’s so important that persons are very careful when handling the bodies of persons who died from the virus.
