No breakthrough, so THA suspended indefinitely

The People’s National Movement (PNM) and Progressive Democratic Patriots (PDP) seem to be spinning top in mud, as they failed for the third time on Thursday, to elect a presiding officer of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).

At the sitting yesterday, the PNM again nominated its candidate, Tobago Regional Health Authority chairman Ingrid Melville, and the PDP nominated Division of Sports and Youth Affairs co-ordinator Julien Skeete.

They voted for four rounds, two of which were by secret ballot, and the House remained in deadlock.

As a result, the Clerk of the House Myrna Mc Leod suspended the meeting to a date to be fixed.
