No bail for man charged with sexual penetration of a teen

A 35-year-old man who was discovered to be the father of a three-month-old baby from a 16-year-old girl, was denied bail when he appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate yesterday on one count of sexual penetration.

A TTPS report states the accused, a labourer, who resides in Chaguanas, will reappear before the court on March 19th.

The teenager has since been placed into the care of the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (CATT).

On March 13th, the child visited a health facility in Central Trinidad and told medical practitioners there that she believed she was suffering with Postpartum Depression. The girl recently had a baby who is presently three-months-old. She revealed that she was living with a man and that she was allegedly being sexually active with him.

Officers of the Central Division Child Protection Unit (CPU) were immediately contacted and an investigation launched into the report.

Following investigations, PC Thomas arrested and charged the 35-year-old suspect with one count of sexual penetration of a child.
