No approval for home test kits for Covid19

There is no consideration being given at this time by the ministry of health to approve home test kits for Covid19.

So says Dr Maryam Abdool-Richards, the Ministry of Health’s Acting Principal Medical Officer in charge of Institutions.

She made the comment during the Ministry’s Covid Briefing on Wednesday.

Dr Abdool-Richards explained that the Ministry of Health is guided by information regarding testing that comes from Caribbean Public Health Agency and World Health Organization/Pan American Health Organisation.

She added that currently, according to those organizations, the PCR tests are considered to be the benchmark for COVID testing.
