Njisane Phillip granted $300K bail

Cyclist Njisane Phillip has been granted $300,000 bail after he appeared before a San Fernando Charge Magistrate.

A cash alternative of $30,000 was also granted on firearm and marijuana charges.

Phillip appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinsingh on Monday afternoon.

The Olympian was hit with three charges including possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm and possession of marijuna.

Phillip was ordered to surrender his Trinidad and Tobago and United States passports and report to the Siparia Police Station every Wednesday as conditions of his bail.

He was not called upon to plead to the charges.

He was represented by attorney Cedric Neptune.

Phillip was arrested around 5 pm on Saturday after police after they noticed him allegedly speeding.

He driving a black Toyota Hilux along the Solomon Hochoy Highway near Gandhi Village in Debe and was stopped by officers.

The matters were adjourned to April 24th.
