NH Works To Resolve Plumbing Leak At Health Ministry’s Administrative Building

NH International Caribbean Limited is currently working to restore operations at the Ministry of Health’s Administrative Building, Port of Spain following an early morning internal flood due to a blown plumbing connection.

Reports indicate the flood began at around 6:45 a.m. today due to a damaged 4” water line in the female bathroom on the third floor.

The Ministry’s staff was evacuated from the building and its doors were closed to the public as repair work was being carried out.

The flood is said to have affected the northern side of the building’s third, second, first and ground floors.

NH is aware of the videos circulating on social media, which were all taken during a very short period of time.

It says the quantity of water may look excessive, but this is to be expected due to the size of the mains that blew.

NH’s Facilities Management team followed procedures, immediately switched off the electrical supply and closed the floor valve in less than 10 minutes of the leak occurring.

The water line has since been repaired and no other incidents have been reported.

The Facilities Management team is continuing the clean-up activities through today and into the public holiday tomorrow, with the aim of making the building fully operational for normal opening hours on Thursday morning.
