The Ashley Furniture HomeStore, invited six NGOs to their Xtra Plaza location to each receive a cheque valued at $27,000.
The event entitled “Brunch at Ashley” saw representatives from each NGO arriving at different time intervals between 11pm and 1pm on Sunday December 13th.
This event, according to Unicomer, marked the culmination of the Ashley Furniture HomeStore ‘Hi5 for Charity’ Programme.
The ‘Hi5 for Charity’ is a cause marketing programme developed by Ashley’s local franchisee, Unicomer (Trinidad) Ltd, where during October, 5% of sales is donated to selected NGO’s.
This year the NGOs that benefitted from the Hi5 for Charity programme were:
- Girl Guides Association of Trinidad and Tobago
- Wishing for Wings
- Kids in Need of Direction (KIND)
- Swaha Vishok Bhavan Children’s Home
- Machel Montano Foundation for Greatness (MMFG)
- Animal Welfare Network
Elizabeth ‘Lady’ Montano, founder of the Machel Montano Foundation for Greatness, spoke highly about the Hi5 programme.
