Back in the political arena as a temporary Senator, Dr Tim Gopeesingh, has made a call to the government hold, what he describes as, a confidential inquiry into Covid-19 deaths in Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr Gopeesingh made the plea while contributing to the Appropriation Financial Year 2022 Bill in the Senate Tuesday afternoon.
In its clinical update on Monday, the Ministry of Health said the number of Covid-19 deaths locally totaled one thousand, six hundred and five (1605).
Dr Gopeesingh defended his request for a Covid-19 inquiry, adding that the information collected from such a process can be useful to local medical experts and the Ministry of Health and appropriate adjustments made where necessary.
Dr Gopeesingh said this can help ensure mistakes made or challenges identified in the system can be corrected and prevented in the public health care moving forward.
The temporary Senator also expressed concern for the families of those who would have lost their loved ones due to Covid-19.
