New Goverance Measures Piloted In Parliament For NAPA And SAPA

Government is seeking to put new governance measures in place for both the National Academy for the Performance Arts and the Southern Academy for the Performing Arts.

The importance of this move was highlighted by the Minister of Tourism, Randall Mitchell, while speaking in the parliament Friday afternoon.

Minister Mitchell was at the time piloting the National Academy For the Performing Arts Bill, 2022 in the House of Representatives.

Minister Mitchell said the aim is to establish two bodies corporate know as NAPA and SAPA for the purpose of owning, managing and operating the facilities in Port of Spain and San Fernando respectively.

The Tourism Minister said the bills taken together are exact replicas of each other and will both seek to address a number of inefficacies   and issues that have plagued both NAPA and SAPA since inception.

Minister Mitchell said the bill will provide a more effective governance and management model of both facilities in culture and the arts.
