A new Board of Directors is installed to oversee the operations at Studley Park Quarry in Tobago.
On March 28th this year eleven members received their Instruments of Appointment.
This will allow them to serve for a period of one year.
In the coming weeks, the Board is expected to a provide a comprehensive status report on the current operations of the Company, further to which, a Strategic Plan will be formulated to turn the Company into one of Tobago’s greatest success stories.
The Executive Chairman is Orville Moore, while the Deputy Chairman and Lead Independent Director is Dr. Winford James.
Speaking at a brief ceremony, Secretary of Infrastructure, Quarries and Urban Development, Trevor James, said that “Studley Park has been a challenge over the years, and we believe we now are at the beginning of putting something in place that will benefit the people of Tobago and we look forward to working with the Board and the General Manager.”
Mr. James said the quarrying industry is supposed to be a steady, dependable and significant source of income to the Tobago economy, and the Assembly should be able to reliably forecast this revenue in the annual budget.
He said the new Studley Park Enterprise Limited Board is mandated to bring the operations at the quarry to the point where substantial increases and productivity are realized to satisfy not just the local demand, but to also enable the island to leverage the opportunities emerging in international markets.
