NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns lost 7 family members to COVID-19

NBA All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns opened up about the loss of his mother and seven other family members to COVID-19 during a candid episode of the Facebook Watch show “Peace of Mind with Taraji.”

The series hosted by actor Taraji P. Hensonand her friend Tracie Jade Jenkins, the executive director of Henson’s mental health advocacy group, tackles mental healthawareness.

Towns spoke openly about his struggles with grief and survivor’s guilt. He was hospitalised with COVID in early 2021, but he pulled through.

His mother passed away due to the virus in April 2020, and during the course of the pandemic, he has lost seven more relatives, including a “close family member”.
