President General of the National Trade Union Centre, (NATUC) Michael Annisette is refusing to take part in any more budget consultation hosted by the Ministry of Finance.
He says the consultations are a farce and a publicity stunt by the Ministry.
Speaking with the media on Tuesday he said nothing meaningful can come out of such consultations for the workers the Trade Union body represents.
He said in some cases negotiations have been ongoing for some nine to ten years while workers continue to be laid off.
He said the Government cannot ignore its legal and moral obligations when it comes to the issue of salary negotiations.
He accused the Government of being aware of labour needs.
