National Securirty Minister Gets First Hand View Of ODPM’s Preparation For The 2021 Hurricane Season.

Human resources, finance and administration, policy and legislative proposals, community engagement and disaster mitigation efforts are some of the issues discussed during a visit Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds held this week with executives of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management.

Minister Hinds got a first-hand view of the organization’s operations and ongoing preparations for the 2021 Hurricane/Wet Season.

In a media release the National Security Ministry said at the meeting, Minister Hinds received a comprehensive overview of the role, functions and operations of the ODPM.

Chief Executive Officer of the ODPM Major General (Retired) Rodney Smart highlighted the recent National Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Month observed in May, which created greater public awareness of the various hazards our country faces.

Minister Hinds assured Major General (Retired) Smart and his team the Ministry of National Security continues to address the needs identified by the ODPM, as well as promote an integrated Whole-Of-Government Approach to disaster risk management including strengthening national capacities to reduce risk, and build community resilience to disasters.
