Murder suspect held during Northern Division exercise

A murder suspect was held and a firearm and quantities of ammunition and marijuana seized, by officers of the Northern Division, during an Operation Strike Back 3 exercise, conducted in Champ Fleurs, early this morning.

The intelligence-led exercise, spearheaded by ACP Andy Belfon and Snr. Supt. Ramdeen and coordinated by Supt. Montrichard, W/ASP Powder and Insp. Pitt, was conducted between 2 am and 7 am on Thursday 24th June, 2021.

During the exercise, several search warrants were executed in the area, which resulted in one Taurus pistol loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition being found. Five hundred fully grown marijuana trees and 275 grammes of marijuana were also discovered and subsequently destroyed.

Two suspects, a 27-year-old and a 28-year-old, both of Champ Fleurs, were arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition, while a 35-year-old suspect, also of the area, was held in connection with homicide enquiries.

Investigations are ongoing.

The exercise also included officers of the Northern Division Task Force- West, Central and East, the Canine Branch and the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard.
