MSJ Suggests School Books Be Made Available Digitally, At No Cost To Parents

The Movement for Social Justice is proposing school books be made available digitally, at no cost to parents.

MSJ made the recommendation in a media release on Tuesday.

It claims the government ought to have taken proactive steps to ease the burdens on parents who had to prepare their children for the new school year.

The release noted that this preparation included buying school text books, copy books and/or notebooks, other stationary items, book bags, uniforms, sneakers and also having money to pay for transport for their children.

On Monday, the Ministry of Education said it is “engaged in a procurement process for an e-book platform”.

The Ministry also stated it would not allow any “new editions of school text books” to be introduced for the next academic year (2023.2024).
