MSDFS to host Virtual Parenting Webinar for Grandparents

The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services is calling on all grandparents to register for its first ever Virtual Parenting Programme, which will target Grandparents.

In an effort to enhance awareness and knowledge of some of the main issues surrounding grandparenting, the National Family Services Division of the Ministry will host a Webinar on Wednesday 10 November, 2021 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. The Webinar will help to support and equip grandparents with the necessary knowledge and skills, to make responsible decisions regarding the safety and well-being of grandchildren and other children under their care.

Senator the Honourable Donna Cox, Minister of Social Development and Family Services will deliver the Keynote Address and this will be followed by presentations by representatives from the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, Families in Action and the University of the West Indies Institute of Gender and Development Studies.

Among the three (3) topics to be covered include Juggling three (3) Generations: The Balancing Act, Intergenerational Gaps, Managing Tensions, Communications, Gender Socialization and lastly, Exploring Your Rights as a Grandparent: Legal and Financial issues.
