MP Keith Scotland Links Blaxx To A Real Life Hulk During Funeral Tributes

The Grand stand of the Queens Park Savannah was packed on Wednesday morning as hundreds gathered to pay tribute to Soca artiste Dexter “Blaxx” Stewart.

The theme of the open ceremony was “Celebration”, and it was that indeed, with artistes such as Destra, Superblue, Preedy and Teri Lyons among the performers.

Soca artistes and industry professionals paid tribute either in person or via video messages.

In his acknowledgements, Member of Parliament for Port of Spain South, Keith Scotland, citing one of Blaxx’s hits, likened him to a real life Hulk.

The funeral was a closed casket one but mourners were allowed to view the body through the glass cover of the casket.

The ceremony will be followed by a procession along Frederick Street led by the hearse carrying his body.

His body will then be taken to Belgrove’s Funeral Home for a private service with family and friends before he is cremated.

Blaxx passed away on March 28 from complications associated with the COVID-19 virus. He was 60 years old at the time of his passing.
